My life with Amy Grant

I think we all have that one artist that totally chills us out. You now the one you could listen to pretty much any time but especially when you get stressed. For me its Amy Grant. I LOVE HER! I have since I was 8years old and my uncle first introduced me to her music on copied taped he made for me, along with Wynonna Judd :) Sometimes I need her more than other times and the need struck me both on the drive down to Florida and on the way back. I recently did a search on Itunes for her so i could go through all her songs and see which ones I don't have. I found several that i hadn't heard in YEARS and others I had never heard before. Of the ones I'd never heard I knew through her book. Its something I can pick up and no matter whats going on, it makes me feel at home, safe somehow. I feel like she's sitting next to me at her cabin in the woods, telling me these stories with a fire burning in the background. I think Amy is someone I could really get along with, actually I have always thought I'd grow up and one day be very good friends with her and her family, and its still a small ambition of mine :)
I listened to her songs all day today in the car while C either slept or watched a movie from her extensive collection of high-pitched and silly movies. There are a few (or a lot) I could just listen to OVER and OVER again! And I feel like sharing them with you. I wont put the whole song here, maybe just the chorus or my favorite part. Hope you (the reader) enjoy as much as I do!

An old classic I've always liked is 'Love Has a Hold on Me'
"I have found the perfect mystery
Love Has a hold on me
Long before my life had come to be
Love had a hold on me
Love has a hold on me"

'Beautiful' is a song that makes me think of old friends. It makes me miss the relationships that have fallen away. Every person I have met in my life has one way or another changed me and made me who I am and I'm eternally grateful to each of them for their uniquely individual beauty.
"The stars we put in place
The dreams we didn't waste
The sorrows we embraced
The world belonged to you and me
The oceans that we crossed
The innocence we lost
The hurting at the end
I'd go there again
Cuz' it was beautiful, It was beautiful
The rules we stepped aside
The fear that we defied
The thrill of the ride
The fire in our hearts that burned
The oceans that we crossed
The innocence we lost
The hurting at the end
I'd go there again
Cuz' it was beautiful, It was beautiful"

OoOooo I LOVE this one! Its a song that I feel like taught me dedication and devotion to loved ones. :) here's 'Whatever it Takes'
"Face to face we embrace
We drink of loves sweetest wine
Whispered names fan the flames
Each touch is frozen in time
I can feel your heart
And the rhythm of it echoes through my soul
Well surely you know
Whatever it takes baby, I'm gonna be there
Whatever it takes baby, you've got to know
Whatever it takes to be true to you
Baby Ill do it somehow"
Next is Definitely 'Our Love' :) Its got a beat to it that fits into the naughty mix ;) And the lyrics are what we go through every time E has to leave.
"I don't know what to say to you
Tears are on your face
You don't know how well make it through
Such a lonely place
But if you could read my mind
Then you'd understand
Even in times like these
I'm wanting nothing other than
Our love
You and me together
Our love
Ill stay with you
Our love, Our love, our love is true"
It was hard to just post that much of the song because its so fantastic!

Here's another that reminds me of the man folk being away, it's called 'Missing You'
"And I cannot hear the telephone
Jangle on the wall
And not feel a hopeful thrill
And I cannot help but smile
At any news of you at all
And I guess I always will
Cause missing you is just a part of living
And missing you feels like a way of life
I'm living out the life that Ive been given
But baby I still wish you were mine"
'Saved By Love' is one that I think fits every mother. We have those 'what if' moments but would never give up our family for anything.
"Laura
loves her little family,
And shes the kind of woman who loves them with her life.
But sometimes in the evening,
When the world rests on her shoulders
With four walls closing in,
Shell close her eyes.
Oh....
Its not like she misses being younger,
Though she never was in vogue magazine or on tv;
Her husband loves her dearly,
And the morning shows her clearly,
Kisses her little baby girl.
Laura, shes the queen of the world.
Cant imagine ever leaving now,
Now that shes been saved by love,
Saved by love, saved by love.
Listen to her quiet heart singing loud.
Laura, shes been saved by love,
Saved by love, saved by love.
I know that shes been saved by love,
Saved by love, saved by love.
Saved by love."

And this is my new favorite 'Touch'
It totally makes me drip with anticipation for Eric's return! I am so excited for that first touch, the first hug, and well I'm sure you can guess what else.
"Hold me close
Feel me breathe
Touch my heart
Set it free and love will lead us
Lay me down
Lift me up
Feel the power
Every time we touch
Don't we wait all our lives
For such a moment
Soul to soul, eye to eye
And all our colors run
Toward one
Til there's no dividing light
Between you and I"
Though out my life I have always had an Amy song to fit my situation and I have always learned a lot from her music. One day Amy, you and I will be sitting in your cabin swapping stories and singing songs.. well I'll let you do the singing. :)

Is it bad that I am still a fan of "Every Heartbeat" and "Good for me?" :P

No way! Those are great too! I just figured I'd put the less known ones on here :)
