Sitting in my hotel room here in Cocoa Beach, with C.Rose asleep, I'm reminded of the simplicity of life and the joy to be found in it. It always comes to me in the summer time or at the beach. When I don't have to fix my hair because the salty air takes care of it and I have no need for make-up because the sun gives my skin the kissed glow of summer, my mind is free to wander to times when i had no cares of worries. I'm looking forward to seeing my baby girl grow and learn and enjoy this simplicity in her own life, and as she gets older the simple things will change and she'll appreciate them more later in life as we all learn.
I'm going to take this time to brag a little about my girlie. Right now she's my only one and I grow more and more proud of her every second. So if you'd rather not hear me ramble on about how great she is then you should find another blog and return here later when I find something more interesting to write about.
Charlotte is 22 months and since she was born the rate at which she learns things and applies them is amazing. I can go over something with her and she picks it up just like that (snaps fingers). She surprises me a lot of times because i will try to show her something and she will take in what I'm saying but not respond and then after a day or so, she'll just say or do what i was trying to teach her. At this point she can recognize all of her letters and numbers up to 10, as well as most of the basic colors. She counts to 13 and loves to sing songs. Her favorite is Row Row Row Your Boat. My little Rose is fearless, she will try to climb anything that looks climbable (including her crib), she loves to run and jump. She falls a lot but has learned that she's ok and doesn't need much attention when it happens. She does love her Nemo bandaids though :) And she always has to have a kiss of her boo boo's to make it "All better." And you better believe that if you have a noticeable booboo, she will be kissing it... so keep it clean and don't give my kid sick germs! :)
We are working on shapes and we have been for about a week and a half. She can point out a triangle, square (sometimes) and usually calls circles, ovals, unless she sees an oval.. then she gets excited and yells OVAL!!!
Her 'yes' is still "Doh" (has been that way since 11-12 mos) but will correct herself a lot of the time now. The other say she said "yes ma'am" all day long, it was so cute. Some one called her 'precious' the other day in a store and that has been her new word since. She said "Sup" to another little girl this morning at breakfast, and would say "Bye" or "See Ya" when people walked by.
Charlotte LOVES to dance! :) She raises the roof, gets low, wiggles and shakes, as well as 'throws her bows' better than me! :) E thinks we are turning her into a ghetto baby because my friends and I have taught her to say "Holla, Holla" "Ohhh Snap" "Peace Baby" "Word" and all the cute dance moves. She surprised me one day when we got in the car, everything was "Awesome!" :)
There is this love for books in her that amazes me. She will bring me books all day long and beg me to read them. Her fav's are the Sarah Boynton books. I try to buy them whenever i see one we don't have. She will sit down and read them to herself. They are short and simple enough for her to memorize and we read them continuously so she knows them front to back anyway. I love walking into her room and seeing her sitting in her rocking chair with a stuffed animal or baby doll "rocking" it and reading a book :) **SO CUTE** She is starting to put words together to make sentences, sometimes its jibberjabber with one actual word but sometimes she'll get out a few consecutive words, like "Down Please" or "Lets Go Momma". Or "Hey, Dea!" which means 'Hey, Whats the big Idea!' :)
He favorite things to watch right now are Micky Mouse Club House, Backyardagains, Little Einsteins, Special Agent OSO, Anything with Elmo, Finding Nemo, Cars, and Bolt. It cracks me up to put Mickey on my Ipod and watch her with head phones in her ears. It gets us through long waits. :) She loves to swim and play outside. She is an absolute fish and will take off in the water as long as its not too cold :oP
She's not the best eater but her favorite real foods are Corn, chicken, fries :), rice with veggies, PB&J, turkey, cheese, pretzels, dried fruits, and a few other things. I don't cook a whole lot with just C to feed.
Today she came to me and asked to go potty like Elmo, so we sat down on the potty for a few minutes nothing happened and she got over it and said "dipey" so we put on a diaper. But she's never shown interest like that in using the potty.
Now I'll be the first to say that her intelligence gets the best of her most of the time and she gets frustrated. Her method of fit is usually hitting anything she can reach and saying "HIT!), throwing things and saying "Throw!". Or then there's the mad scream :oP
I can't help but laugh most of the time. She's still figuring out her emotions and how to deal with them.
I can't wait to see her explore music. I just know she's going to excel at any instrument she tries!
So there is my brag roll. :) I absolutely love teaching my girl new things and see her figure things out for herself. I have no doubt our family as well as the world is blessed because of Little Charlotte Rose. Her daddy has no idea whats in store for him when he gets home :) At this point in our lives the only thing that would make it better is more babies just like her!! (well, and Eric of course)
