Our Crazy Beautiful Weekend!!

We've had a fun and busy last few days here in our little house at the top of the hill. Finally, we made it out of the house last Wednesday to go to the grocery store. It was a VERY looong week and a half of quarantined solitude. Charlotte recovered nicely from the oh so lovely Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease; however, I am still being paranoid around other kiddo's, washing hands diligently and taking anything she happens to put in her mouth. I was really hoping for an exciting interchange with the checkout lady at walmart, after all I did spend $274.56, But alas... She was grumpy and about to go on break so it was all she could do to get me out of her lane as fast as possible. Not to mention Charlotte was super cranky (way to go me for taking her too close to nap time.. GAH MOM!) so, I didn't have the attention span to chat with her try to cheer her mood. Oh well, You win some, you lose some I guess. :) A funny tid bit from the day:
I keep Dum Dum suckers in my purse, as suggested by a friend, for grocery shopping and other outings she might not be to keen on. The post office was our first stop of the day and the man, whom C calls Papa, gave her a sucker (with out asking mind you, a man thing I'm guessing). And then I gave her another in the store when she started getting uppity. Then in the checkout lane, she spotted them in my bag, so avoiding a melt down so close to escaping the mad house of Walmart i relented and handed her the third sucker of the day. As soon as we got into the car, not even out of the parking lot yet, she fell asleep. Now, she finished her sucker but when I went to get her out of the car she was SO sticky from her 3 suckers in a 3 hour span that her hands were stuck to her little blue jeans... I had to whip out the baby wipes and wipe her down while she was sleepinging the car. But she did stay asleep during the cleaning process and even when I carried her inside. She slept like an angel for a few hours that day! :)

On Thursday I went out with some girlfriends to a place called Richard's Cafe in Whites Creek. It was a quaint little hole-in-the-wall joint and they have live music every night. We enjoyed some good Cajun food.. well they did, I settled for a Philly cheese steak sandwich :)... and a few good musicians played. We even talk Heather into an impromptu diddy for Patty. Heather has a wonderful voice and its always nice to hear her sing. Patty is what we call the glue of our small group, she holds us together! She's moving back to her home state of Alabama in just a few days and I am going to miss her SOOOO much! I really can't believe she's going!! I know she'll be back to visit, but this next week is going to be a tear jerker as we all say our goodbyes.
Before we met for dinner on Thursday, I got the chance to go shopping with my mom. My FAVORITE shopping buddy! I seriously, would rather go shopping with her over ANY one else! We went out to the World Market in Gallatin i think. Of course we walk in and they're having their semi-annual every-thing-is-clearanced sale! And anything that had a red tag was an EXTRA 50% off!!! It was nuts! Soooo... I spent some $$$ and got a LOT of cool stuff! :) While in Quarantine I have been doing a lot of moving around furniture and de-cluttering in the house, getting ready for my hubby to return home (YAY). These World Market purchases are a great addition!! :) I also did the hand over with my princess to her Mimi, so I could go out with the girls. After the evening with the ladies, I drove around for a little while. I wasn't quite ready to go back to reality yet. Its rare that i get out without C right there with me and after being in the house for a week and a half straight, a 915 ending was not cutting it for me, I had to make it last. So, I drove around, taking the long way to my moms and then drove around my hometown for a little bit, it's changed a lot! The high school I went to is no longer a high school.. I'm actually not really sure what it is now, but the NEW high school is MASSIVE! I am dying to get a tour of it, but I'm afraid I might look like a nerd if I actually ask for one. :oP Then I drove out to the lake, Cedar Creek i guess is what the little park is called. I used to go out there when I was a teenager... of course I kissed a few boys there ;) As I pulled in and passed by one side of the park where there's a volleyball court and a play ground, a little red light was flashing in my car. It took me a second to realize the kids over on the playground were shining a laser pointer in my car. I had to laugh because I remember coming out here with my friends in the summer time and hanging out just like that, being silly and doing stupid stuff. After about 5 minutes of being there, and finding nothing on the radio worth listening to, I drove to my mom's house, where C was STILL awake at 10:30! (Mimi!!) I put her to bed and came out to living room where I gave my mom a strong talking to about bedtimes and 2 years olds... Just kidding!!!!! When I came out my mom started making the drinks! We watched Grand Toreno, with Clint Eastwood.. FANTASTIC movie!! Hilarious!! I was expecting to be asleep in the first 5 minutes but it was sooo good! We made it to bed around 1:30-ish. The next morning we got up and went swimming!! :) C had a blast! she jumped right it!! It was sooo cute! When we got home that night we went over to the neighbors to hang out for a little while, they made steak chicken and shrimp on the grill and I picked up some whiskey for Ron and Rum for the girls and we had a fun night! We watched a movie called InkHeart, with Brandon Frasier. It was another great movie.. even Charlotte and I were the only ones to watch the whole thing :)

I took my dog Buddy with me that night too. I am trying to be a better dog owner and socializing him with other people and working with him on a leash was actually fun! He did really well, and I'm still on a high from having such a great experience with him! :) We walked home late so I was really glad i took him along. He has been on my good list until today when he started ripping MORE siding off our house... I am pretty sure we're gonna have to replace the entire bay window siding and possibly the ply wood underneath it! UGH!!
Anyway, my 4th of July 2009 is the most unforgettable one yet!! We had VIP passes to go to the General's section of the parade field to watch the Fireworks on Ft. Campbell and they had an open bar, which my neighbor Ron was working. Angie and I and the kiddo's went to the Carnival and then to the VIP section to watch the fireworks... right before they got ready to start the sky got pretty black and they announced the cancellation. BUMMER! As we were walking out the Tornado sirens went of saying it was a warning!! But we made it to the car in time for the rain to pour out of the clouds. When we turned on the radio they said cars were not a safe place to be right now, but honestly.. there were no 'ditches' around and we were sitting in traffic trying to leave. I could see it in my head the perfect movie picture tornado ripping through, tossing cars everywhere and carnival rides still turning, the Ferris wheel breaking off and flying into the clouds. Of course none of that happened, but we did see a funny looking cloud that later we came to fin out was one of the funnel's spotted on Ft. Campbell... AHH!! Angie and I were freaking out in the car while Charlotte and Riley were in the back seat just having a good ol' time. Charlotte was "raising the roof" and saying Awesome!! YAAAY!!!... Silly kids! We got back to the neighbor's house and decided to order a pizza, when we heard from Ron, on his way home with an entire cooler of beer and wine, we decided to add a few more people to our little shindig and a few more pizzas to our order! It was a blast! Watching the neighborhood fireworks from their garage with a lot of pizza and beer. An unforgettable fourth!
Today has been the laziest day ever!! C woke up at 11 o'clock.. YES you read that right ELEVEN!! She has gone to bed at midnight or later the last few nights and it caught up with her today. She wanted to watch Nemo at one point, so i turned it on and she curled up on the couch and said 'snuggle momma' so I curled up with her and I fell asleep! It was so sweet! I just love her! :) She skipped her nap today so she's back on schedule as far as bedtimes :) She crashed at like 830 tonight.
Well folks, that was my exciting life this past weekend! :) Hope you enjoyed my little anecdotes. You can pass them around if you want. its all pretty classic stuff :)
