Day 19 is about someone that pesters my mind.. good or bad.. I don't have any one person in particular, but I can guarantee, there are at least 20 or so Moms-to-be or new moms that are Always on my mind! Pregnancy, birth, and babies are such a passion of mine that anytime someone tells me they're pregnant I get just as excited as if it were me! :) I wish I had the resources and the capabilities to host a big party for all the pregnant women and new moms! I just love to celebrate everything about it! It's such a bonding trait for women! I truly believe our ability to give life and sustain it, is the MOST amazing thing ever created... I don't know why anyone would ever call childbirth a
curse.. except maybe a man who was envious of our talents! ;) When you break down everything that happens in order to get pregnant, how the cervix opens and moves down during ovulation and secretes a thick mucous to hold onto sperm so that it doesn't leave the body. Then everything the body goes through and is able to do during pregnancy to keep this little life safe, and even more so the change in the body as it readies itself for the birthing process! Ugh! WOW! The way the uterus is designed so that as it first starts contracting (aka braxton hicks) it is readying the cervix to start dilating, and as the contractions become a bit stronger closer to labor, the way the different layers of the uterus work to open the cervix and work the baby down on their own.. The female body is truly something to be celebrated. My favorite thing though.. is how the body works as soon as the baby is born. I don't care who you are, your body will make breastmilk and make exactly enough for what your baby needs! A Dr. may try to tell you its not enough for your baby, but trust me.. it is! They will get every little bit they need just from you!
Ok so that's my soapbox...
Back on track.. pregnant women, are always on my mind :) The streaming list of women I know is constantly running in my head and how their sweet little babies are doing! I know the joy that comes through it all and the potential experience they can have and I want it for them all so badly! Sometimes I know I overstep my boundaries in giving unwanted advice, its just that I truly believe with all my heart that no matter what kind of difficulties your "labor" brings it is possible to do it in the most natural way and if left alone to do what it's meant to do, the body and the baby will work together and result in a more positive experience.
Oh my, I've gone off and ranted.. :P
